He was an employee of the Ministry of Finance for more than forty years. He was then appointed General Secretary in the same Ministry (Government Gazette 186/10.6.1892)  and was subsequently appointed President of the Court of Auditors. He served as President from 4/3/1899 until 29/12/1901, when he died.
