INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
PARTICIPATION IN INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS

The international dimension of the Hellenic Court of Audit is reflected in its active participation in independent, non-political, international and European organisations of peer audit institutions, within the framework of which it develops multilateral cooperation with their respective members.

Specifically, the Hellenic Court of Audit is a full member of the following organisations:

  • •  INTOSAI (International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions), while also participating in its specialised Working Groups on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) and on the Value and Benefits of SAIs (WGVBS),
  • •  JURISAI (International Network of Supreme Audit Institutions with Jurisdictional Functions), while also participating in the specialised Standing Committees on Capacity Development and on Finance, Administration and Communication, and
  • •  AISCCUF (Association of Supreme Audit Institutions with French as a common language), at international level,

as well as - at European level – of the organisations and bodies

  • •  EUROSAI (European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions - Regional Organisation of INTOSAI), while also participating in its specialised  Working Groups on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) and Local Government Auditing (WGMA), as well as in the Network on Ethics (NET), and
  • •  Contact Committee of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the EU and the European Court of Auditors (Contact Committee), while also participating in the Joint Working Group on Audit Activities (JWGAA), the Network on Fiscal Policy Audit (NFPA) and the recently launched CC activity on Migration, as well as holding observer status in the Working Group on VAT (WGAVAT).

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AND BILATERAL RELATIONS

The Hellenic Court of Audit contributes, on its own initiative, to strengthening the audit mechanisms that support the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) through its representatives as members of the External Audit Boards of the European Peace Facility (EPF) and the European Defence Agency (EDA).

Furthermore, the Court participates in the International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN), occasionally through its representatives serving as members  of the Board, and regularly at the Board's annual meeting with the representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the Organisation's member states (CNABs).

Besides, as one of the three Supreme Courts of Greece, the Hellenic Court of Audit is a member of the Supreme Courts Network (SCN), contributing to the dialogue between the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and the national supreme courts, which constitutes the main objective of this institution.

At the level of bilateral cooperation with Supreme Audit Institutions, the Court  has so far concluded cooperation agreements with the Court of Audit of France, with which it shares a long-standing tradition in the development of the jurisdictional model of public finance control, and more recently with  the UAE Accountability Authority.

The Hellenic Court of Audit also frequently welcomes foreign delegations, composed, as appropriate, of judges, auditors, senior officials and politicians from other countries, particularly from their Supreme Audit Institutions, the European Parliament, the European Court of Auditors, the European Court of Human Rights, etc., for discussions on its missions and activities.
